Kampala’s nightlife came alive as the city marked the final hours of 2025, with roads busier than usual and venues filled to capacity.
At the heart of the celebrations was Baoli Rooftop, where Rwandan music star Mike Kayihura delivered a highly anticipated New Year’s Eve performance.
Kayihura, whose collaborations with Ugandan artists like Azawi and Elijah Kitaka have made him a fixture on local stages, took to the stage in the early hours of January 1, 2026, performing hits including Tuza, Elevated, Zuba, I Will Be There, and Boneza.
His emotive connection with the crowd transformed the rooftop into a sing-along celebration of music and joy.
The event, organized in partnership with Baoli Restaurant and powered by Don Julio, combined elegance with excitement. Guests enjoyed a variety of Don Julio tequila selections, including Blanco, Reposado, Añejo, and the iconic 1942, while mixologists prepared curated cocktails to suit every palate.
Judie Nandekya, Senior Brand Manager for Tequila and Rum, East Africa, said, “This intimate New Year party has afforded us another opportunity to closely interact with our consumers in a befitting space to usher in a new year.”
As midnight struck, fireworks illuminated the Kampala skyline, marking the official start of 2026.
The celebration continued with a curated DJ lineup featuring DJs Anselm, Tune J, Kash Pro, and Vanns, while MC Josh guided the crowd seamlessly through the night’s transitions.
The combination of live performance, expert DJing, and luxury experiences created a vibrant and unforgettable celebration, highlighting Kampala’s growing reputation as a hub for premium nightlife and music events.
